What are your goals for this record attempt?
I have been chasing 50-knots for a long time. It is a lifetime goal and
at the moment there is a lot of pressure from a variety of sailing
craft on the outright world record so we are hoping that this big
effort deep into the winter will yield the ultimate prize.
Why is speedsailing exciting in your opinion?
Few sports have the same vigour and adrenaline as speedsailing. There
is a certain speed whereby it all changes and one gets hooked on the
pure feel of going fast. There is an element of danger and the 'man vs.
nature' aspect is always appealing.
How do you visualize the perfect run?
Hook in and hold on and the night before, dream about what it would
feel like to break the world record.
